OFF SNOW REVIEW:
Identical
to the Giro Nine with the addition of a pre-mounted
visor.
One
of the greatest helmet innovations in the history
of helmets, the Giro Nine is a favorite at SkiHelmets.com.
The Giro Nine is the most versatile, comfortable
helmet in the Giro line. You can't go wrong with
any of the colors, but the Titanium and the Jack
of Spades are not to miss! The shell is a shorter
cut, giving the Giro Nine a baseball cap feel
rather than a helmet feel. The materials are super
light weight on the Nine and it's easy to forget
you're even wearing a helmet during the day. The
interior is lined with fleece padding to provide
extra comfort and warmth. The best feature on
the Nine is the venting. It has 12 huge vents
all over the helmet that can be opened or closed
in a matter of seconds. The vents are divided
into 3 regions on the helmet. The center, left
and right can all be controlled separately to
dial in your perfect temperature control. The
vents are plugged with foam inserts that you literally
remove from the helmet and stuff in your pocket.
No more questions about whether the vents are
open or closed, if the pads are in, the vents
are closed. If the pads are in your pocket, they
are open! It's the easiest, most effective system
we've seen. This helmet is often imitated, but
the Nine is the original helmet in this class.
The only negative thing we can think of with this
helmet is possibly loosing the vents that you
pull out. Just remember which jacket you put them
in and you should be fine. It's rumored that Giro
will make available replacement pads this winter
though, just in case. Overall, a fantastic helmet!
Designed for anyone who wants a light weight,
well vented and great priced helmet!

WHAT
Giro SAYS... |
 |

With
the Nine MX you get all the benefits of the standard
Nine model plus a screw mounted visor. Motorcross
riders and mountain bikers know that a visor protects
you vision from the sun and helps deflect branches
when riding the trees. Visor not sold separately.
The
first unbelievably light-weight, legitimately
ventilated, all-mountain snowboard helmet.
The
Nine™ has 12 air-sucking, heat dispensing vents,
perfectly positioned to draw moisture and heat
from your melon while traversing the back bowls,
hiking the pipe, or just ripping the spring corn.
Or seal-out the cold with Weatherstrip™ vent plugs.
The short cut shell is designed with removable
ears for greater peripheral vision and true snowboard
style. The Nine also incorporates a goggle loop
that'll keep your goggles attached to your helmet
in the event of a major digger.
The
Nine™ features Giro's In-Molded™ shell, bonded
to an energy absorbing EPS liner. This tough but
lightweight exo-skeleton helps reinforce the helmet
in an accident.
Meets the various performance provisions of ASTM
standard 1447 for shock absorption, retention
and coverage.
